In the Alucast Models, Bram Vanderbeke explores the relationship between sculpture and architecture through the language of construction. Cast in aluminium, these small-scale structures originate from the familiar geometry of stacked bricks or carved aluminium, yet suggest a larger architectural potential. Their forms can be read as fragments of buildings, structural elements, or autonomous constructions without a predetermined function. As models, the sculptures propose possible transformations of scale: what exists as a compact object could expand into a monumental structure, situated within and reshaping its surrounding environment. By casting them in aluminium the models become more then just research objects and can be seen as sculptures on their own.
